Based on initial observations at Bandungrejosari 1 Public Elementary School, Malang City, it is known that students have low interest in learning and have difficulty understanding the concept of data presentation. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles over four meetings, involving observation, learning interest questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. Success indicators are set when ≥85% of students achieve a minimum score of 70. The results showed a significant increase, where the average value of concept comprehension increased from 68.3 in the pre-cycle to 83.3 in the second cycle, and the completeness of learning increased from 48% to 89%. The average learning interest score also increased from 71 to 86.3. These findings prove that the Discovery Learning model assisted by Data Presentation Board media is effective in increasing learning interest and understanding of mathematical concepts. Practically, these results recommend the use of a combination of discovery models and visual-based concrete media as an innovative alternative in mathematics learning in primary schools.
Nurul Ain, Khandyas Kenza Karomiah, Luluk Faridatus Zuhro Copyright (c) 2025 Pelita : Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Indonesia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3271 Fri, 18 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Improving Science and Social Studies Learning Outcomes in Grade 5 through the Inquiry Learning Model Assisted by Interactive Multimedia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3284
This study addresses the low academic performance of fifth-grade students at Gili Timur 2 Public Elementary School in understanding the solar system topic within the Natural and Social Sciences curriculum. The problem was attributed to conventional teaching methods and the minimal use of visual media. This research aimed to enhance student learning outcomes by implementing an inquiry-based learning model integrated with interactive multimedia using Morph PowerPoint. The study adopted a Classroom Action Research design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model and was conducted in three cycles involving 39 students. Data collection techniques included observations, interviews, and achievement tests, with all instruments validated prior to use. The findings demonstrated a significant improvement in student achievement, with average scores increasing from 59.08 in Cycle I to 79.38 in Cycle II and 83.85 in Cycle III. The percentage of students achieving mastery learning also rose markedly from 23.07% to 97.43%. The integration of inquiry-based instruction with Morph PowerPoint effectively enhanced students’ conceptual understanding, engagement, and motivation. This study offers a pedagogical contribution by demonstrating the potential of combining Morph PowerPoint with inquiry-based learning in elementary science education a synergy that has received limited attention in existing research. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited instructional time and diverse student learning preferences should be addressed for broader application.
Febrian Mahendra, Ahmad Fajar Ridho Rizqillah, Anil Fahrizin Asrulloh, Andika Adinanda Siswoyo Copyright (c) 2025 Pelita : Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Indonesia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3284 Sun, 20 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Pragmatic Functions of Humor in Indonesian Podcasts: Implications for Intercultural Competence in Language Learning https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3447
This study explores the strategic functions of humor in an Indonesian podcast conversation between Raditya Dika and Pras Teguh. While humor in digital media is widely discussed, its pragmatic and cultural dimensions in Southeast Asian podcast discourse remain underexamined. Using a pragmatic linguistic framework and cultural discourse analysis, this study reveals that humor fulfills three key functions: building social rapport, mitigating face-threatening acts, and maintaining discourse coherence. The analysis draws on five major theories: incongruity, superiority, relief, general theory of verbal humor, and multimodal strategies. Methodologically, the study integrates verbal and non-verbal cues in naturalistic podcast data to capture how humor operates in spontaneous, informal interactions. The findings also show that intertextual references, cultural expressions, and soft stereotypes embedded in jokes reflect Indonesia’s high-context communication style and function as identity negotiation tools in the digital public sphere. This research contributes a Southeast Asian perspective to digital humor studies and highlights humor’s pedagogical value. It suggests that podcast-based humor, when contextually analyzed, can support language instruction by enhancing learners’ pragmatic awareness, intercultural sensitivity, and communicative competence.
Lusi Komala Sari, Melan Melan, Bede Blaise Chukwunyere Onwuagboke Copyright (c) 2025 Pelita : Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Indonesia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3447 Thu, 31 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Implementation of Numeracy Action Board Media With Realistic Mathematic Education Approach to the Learning Outcomes of Grade 1 Elementary School Students https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3272
The rapid development of society requires the field of education to continuously innovate in line with the evolving characteristics of contemporary students. Education must be implemented in accordance with the context of the times and the specific needs of learners. The low mathematics learning outcomes in addition and subtraction of numbers among Grade 1-A students at Kebonsari 2 State Elementary School in Malang present a challenge for teachers to design creative, contextual, and meaningful learning strategies. One such effort is the use of numeracy action board media integrated with the Realistic Mathematics Education approach, which is a mathematics learning method that connects abstract concepts with real-life situations familiar to students’ daily experiences, such as stories about shopping at small stalls or sharing cakes with friends. This study employed classroom action research based on the Hopkins model, which consists of two implementation cycles. The research subjects were 28 Grade 1-A students at Kebonsari 2 State Elementary School in Malang. The findings revealed an improvement in the percentage of students achieving mastery learning, from 46.62 percent in the pre-cycle to 79 percent in the first cycle, and a further significant increase to 93 percent in the second cycle. These results indicate that the use of numeracy action board media based on the Realistic Mathematics Education approach is effective in enhancing students’ mathematics learning outcomes. For future research, it is recommended to include statistical significance testing to strengthen the validity of the quantitative findings.
Cicilia Ika Rahayu Nita, Julaita Putri Haryanti, Puji Rahayu Ningsih Copyright (c) 2025 Pelita : Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Indonesia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3272 Sun, 10 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Improving Understanding of Compound Sentences Through Think Pair Share and Make a Match https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3313
This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Think Pair and Share learning model combined with the Make a Match educational media on improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes in multi-tiered compound sentence material in Grade V at Tanjungrejo 1 Public Elementary School. The research was motivated by the low achievement of students’ cognitive outcomes in understanding and constructing multi-layered sentences. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the Think Pair and Share cooperative learning model with the Make a Match educational game in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. The research design employed classroom action research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The intervention involved pair discussions through the Think Pair and Share model during the comprehension stage, followed by activities of matching parent and child sentence cards using the Make a Match method to reinforce understanding. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The findings revealed an increase in the completeness of cognitive learning outcomes from 71 percent in the first cycle to 82 percent in the second cycle. These results indicate that combining the Think Pair and Share model with the Make a Match media effectively enhances students’ learning engagement and cognitive abilities, and it is recommended as an alternative strategy for implementing cooperative and game-based learning in primary schools.
Romia Hari Susanti, Anindyksa Lasvenia, Lilik Nurmawati Copyright (c) 2025 Pelita : Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Indonesia https://journal.actual-insight.com/index.php/pelita/article/view/3313 Sun, 17 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000
