Abstract

Pembentukan karakter warga negara di Sekolah Dasar (SD) dipengaruhi oleh dukungan sosial, namun penelitian terdahulu lebih banyak mengaitkannya dengan kesehatan mental dan prestasi akademik, sedangkan pengaruhnya terhadap karakter warga negara sebagai masih terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh dukungan sosial terhadap pembentukan karakter warga negara di SD Kota Semarang. Metode penelitian ini yaitu kuantitatif desain ex post facto terhadap 531 murid di dua SD melalui purposive sampling menggunakan instrumen Character Strengths Inventory dan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa karakter warga negara dan dukungan sosial berada pada kategori tinggi. Dukungan sosial berhubungan positif kuat dengan karakter warga negara (r = 0,662; p < 0,001) dan menjelaskan 43,9% variasi karakter warga negara. Kebaruan penelitian ini pada pengukuran karakter warga negara sebagai konstruk multidimensional yang terdiri atas kindness, teamwork, bravery, creativity, modesty, dan spirituality. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu dukungan sosial merupakan prediktor signifikan pembentukan karakter warga negara. Implikasinya, sekolah perlu memperkuat kolaborasi dengan keluarga dan masyarakat untuk menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sinergis.
