Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Core Criteria for Authorship
In alignment with the standards established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat  requires that every individual listed as an author must fulfill all four of the following requirements:

  1. Substantial Intellectual Contribution: Substantially contributed to the conceptualization, design, data collection, or data analysis and interpretation of the educational research.
  2. Drafting and Critical Revision: Participated in drafting the original manuscript or critically revising it for significant intellectual and academic content.
  3. Final Approval: Reviewed and provided final approval for the version of the manuscript to be published.
  4. Accountability: Agreed to be held accountable for all aspects of the research, ensuring that any questions regarding the accuracy, validity, or integrity of any part of the work are thoroughly investigated and resolved.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Corresponding Author: The designated corresponding author acts as the primary representative for all co-authors during the submission, peer review, and publication processes. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that all named authors have read, approved, and agreed to the submission of the final manuscript.
  2. Order of Authorship: The sequence of author names should reflect a consensus decision among all co-authors, which must be finalized prior to submission.

Authorship Modifications and Policy Restrictions

  1. Changes to Authorship: Any post-submission addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names requires a formal written request to the Editor-in-Chief from the corresponding author. This request must detail a clear rationale and include signed written consent from all authors (including those being added or removed). No authorship changes are permitted post-publication, except through a published formal correction.
  2. Non-Author Contributors (Acknowledgments): Individuals who contributed to the study but do not fulfill all four criteria above—such as those providing technical assistance, language editing, general supervision, or funding acquisition—should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section rather than listed as authors.
  3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools: Generative AI tools and technologies cannot be listed as authors, as they are incapable of taking moral, legal, or professional responsibility for the manuscript.

Unethical Authorship Practices: Practices such as ghost, guest, or gift authorship are strictly prohibited and constitute academic misconduct. Any cases involving improper authorship attribution will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and misconduct policies.
